The White Pine Award reading program offers high school-aged teens at all grade levels the opportunity to read the best of Canada's recent young adult fiction titles. Students will read 10 nominated Canadian young adult books and then vote for their favourite book. Based on student voting across the province, the most popular book is then selected and author is honoured with the White Pine Award.
The goals of the White Pine Award program are
Titles become available in November. Sign your name on the chart and choose which book you would like to read. When you finish your book, add a star beside your name, and choose another book. The White Pine Book Club meets every few weeks to discuss what they've read, snack provided! At the end of April, if you have read at least 5 of the 10 books, you are invited to a celebration to vote for your favourite book.
The list of 2009 titles should be announced Oct. 27. Stay tuned!!
