As a first person novel, Julie explains her dread of going to school everyday and how Dana, her tormentor, makes her feel everyday. But when her brother brings home a digital camera full of embarrassing photos of the tormentor, Julie has her chance for revenge. As the story goes on, Julie learns revenge is not always as sweet as she witnesses Dana’s hurt that she once felt herself. Being the voice of reason Sammy, her friend, tries to get Julie to do the right thing and take back all of the photos. Struggling to understand what to do and if she do the right thing, Julie attempts to find out just how much effort one needs to take back what is already done.

Zee and his friends are a known bunch of teenagers, who soon realize the new mall owners are not very fond of them or their attitudes. Zee, being the artist of the group, decides to get his message across to the shop owners by painting on the hardware stores plain white wall. Despite his attempts, the shop owner, Mr. Feniuk, paints over the artwork and ignores Zee’s messages. Deciding that he will keep painting, he tries again but only on a door instead. When Mr. Feniuk does not paint over it, Zee plans to strike again with another painting. While Zee is about to paint, the shop owner catches him in the act and strikes a deal with Zee. Having the choice of either being reported to the police, or fixing the walls he ruined, Zee decides to help out with the wall and attempts to mend and improve the relationship between him and the shop owners.

Frances works at the local convenience store during the nights, and usually either stocks shelves and when she is not doing that, works on her art. One night her routine is disturbed when a boy named Devin comes in. Claiming to be the son of a famous local artist, he offers Frances advice on her artwork. Deciding that he is just a bit odd, Frances ignores the warnings from her boyfriend, and the fact that Devin knows too much about her and thinks he is just odd, not harmless. But when she realizes she is actually in danger, she is too deep into the mess and Devin is completely obsessed with her, continually saying “if he can’t have her, no one can”. Forced to use all her strength, Frances must find a way to escape from Devin.

When a boy, Jake, finally gets his drivers license him and his friend Mickey decide to take a cruise around the strip. But when they meet some guys and challenge them to a street race, things get out of hand. A chain reaction begins once the race starts and when an accident is caused, Jake and Mickey free the crime scene. When they both try and convince themselves that they were not involved, Jake finds it more difficult to do this than he thought. Beginning to struggle, Jake tries to decide what is the right thing to do whether he should keep pretending, or if he should go to the authorities.

Ben Jepson, son of two animal rights activists, is left in charge yet again of the Animal Reserve. When he is going to check on the jaguars he sees the dead body, or what is left of it, of a woman. Wondering if someone put it there or if she fell in, he soon realizes that his favorite cat, an 800-pound Siberian tiger nicknamed ‘Lord of the Kill’, has been stolen. Knowing that his parents have made many enemies because of their animal activist ways, he has a long list to investigate in order to find the missing tiger, and potential killers of the woman in the jaguars cage. Such enemies include those who kill tigers for medicine, and those who kill the tigers in close range for sport. As the story follows Ben on a search for the missing tiger, it allows the readers to gain knowledge on the treatment of animals, and also some of the behavioral patterns of them.

Following the events of the televison show, The O.C.: The Outsider starts at the first episode, when the delinquent Ryan is thrown into the society of the rich. Being a brooding bad boy who’s homeless and on his way to juvie, he is on the road to destruction. That is, until his do-good lawyer Sandy Cohen opens his home and welcoming arms to the boy. While at the home Ryan meets the good-hearted Seth Cohen who is friendless but still upbeat. And while he is staying with the Cohens, he quickly meets the girl who he immediately falls for, Marissa. This story follows the first chapter in Ryan’s life, and shows how it quickly becomes more complicated than he thought.

Following the chronicles of The O.C. cast from the television show comes an original spin-off of the story based on the show. This story follows Seth Cohen who has finally found the person he wants to be and has grown confident about most things, except Summer. Still not being able to get over her, he realizes she still can’t forgive him. And he is not the only one in a crisis, after Ryan visits his family he finally realizes that you cannot force a family to be together. But after that realization, he also notices he has found a family in the Cohens that he never had before. With both boys still in love, they both try to win back the hearts of those they disappointed and hope for a positive change in their life.

Based the hit television show, The Beginning focuses on the back story Lucas and Nathan Scott, the half-brothers who have fallen for the same girl. Lucas grew up poor on the outskirts of town while Nathan grew up wealthy and owns the town. Being forced together on the basketball team they become rivals on the court and off, and the their lives and everyone else’s around them will never be the same. This novel digs deeper into the story and allows the viewers of the show to view the back-story they never saw and expose the secrets viewers have yet to learn.
