Sorting Activity About Real Frogs and Toads
Introduction :
The children are working on the unit "Frog and Toad are Friends" by Arnold Lobel. They will have learned about the author and about the characters Frog and Toad. They will also be working on a Science component in the unit. They will be learning about real frogs and toads. This activity is an assessment task to find out what they have learned about real frogs and toads. It is incorporated in the web page as an activity they do after they have researched the web sites on the "Real Frogs and Toads" page.

Task:
They have to sort pictures of frogs according to the attribute named in the task.They will have to make the sorting table with the help of the teacher.

Process:
They will look very carefully at the frog pictures in the task.
They will read the describing words.
They will choose the describing words that describe the picture of the frog they are looking at.
They might choose more then one set of describing words for each picture!
They will make a sorting chart like the one shown. The teacher will help them do this.
They will match the frog pictures to the describing words.
They will put the number of the frog picture in the box under the matching describing words.
They will do the evaluation rubric with your teacher.

Evaluation:
There is a rubric with the activity. The evaluation is set up for the teacher to do with the children individually.
